He's Here!!!- The Stats
Kaden John Brown was born a little early on Labor Day, September 6th at 3:47 AM. He weighed 6 lbs, 6 oz, and was 20 in long. We are grateful and happy he is here! He gave us a couple of scares, but after a week in the NICU with some wonderful doctors and nurses we are happy to report that he is healthy, happy and home! I would write you the story now, however, it's not your typical delivery story so it's gonna be a book. See the upcoming post for the detailed story :)

Doc Visit
Hello! With 19 days to go we have been seeing the doctor much more often. We just got back and things are looking pretty good. My blood pressure was a little higher than it has normally been so they took it twice after resting a little bit and it was a little lower. Low enough to not get monitored today. After checking me the doc said I was at 1 cm, which doesn't mean too much. He does want me back on Friday to double check my blood pressure, fluid levels and I will do a non stress test then. Has anyone done one of those? I'm just wondering what they do during that. I'm hoping for another week and a half at least...but we'll see. Who knows maybe he'll even come late. We'll see!

38 Weeks

I cannot believe that we are this close to having Baby Jimmy! School started last week and I have been super busy and stressing so the braxton hicks and contractions have been bugging me during the day. It's been a nice reminder to relax as much as possible. I feel mostly ready... We've been gradually packing the bag, car seat is in the car, and sub plans are being worked on. The back pain and inability to move easily has gotten annoying so as soon as my students have one last week to prep for a sub, this kiddo can come out as soon as he wants too. We have most all of the baby's room put together, excluding the glider which Jimmy will be working on putting together (Thank you Brown Fam!) and then I'll post pics of baby's room ;) We can't wait!

Spot on!
Jimmy and I just got back from the doctor's office. I'm in my 35th week! I can't believe that I only have 5ish weeks to go! We got in and did the normal routine. I'm measuring spot on and when the doc went to get his heart beat all the pushing around got the baby a little excited and he started pushing back! It was really cute :) I've been doing really good. Except for the sore hips and joints, tired-ness and smidge of stress getting ready for the baby and school coming up, I'm doing great! We are so excited for this little guy to come out!

Counting, counting, counting
I've been counting a lot lately! Earlier this week I had a doc appointment and thought it would be a good time to blog. I've been doing really well considering it's the end of July and I'm 33 weeks pregnant! I've had the normal aches and pains, including the little kiddo kicking up under my ribs. He is measuring just wonderfully and I'm growing just great. I've been assigned the kick count chart to see that he kicks 10 times in either 15,30,45,60 min increments and grading A-D's each day. My boy already is getting straight A's. Sometimes I wonder if he's going to knock me off balance he kicks so much. I've even been able to tell his sleep wake schedule since his movements are becoming more consistent. I've had some cramping so now I have to watch and make sure that it doesn't happen 5 times in an hour for 3 hours of monitoring and laying down. If so, to the hospital I go! But I haven't felt anything for days now. So between counting measurements, kick counts, cramp counts, baby sleep cycle, 33 weeks and 7 to go, I think I have my numbers down! I'm excited for our little feisty one to come!

Week 31

9 weeks to go! I can hardly believe it! Last week we went to a doctors appointment and another ultrasound (that's 5!) I have to admit I love having so many ultrasounds and seeing this little kiddo. My doctor was curious to know how big he is since I'm measuring ahead still. I was really worried because my family is notorious for having big babies (9-10 pounders! me being one of them). But, all was well during the ultrasound. Baby Brown is a healthy 3 lbs 4 oz and in the 37 percentile which is great! And he's head down and facing backwards so he's in position and ready to go. The doctor predicted that when he's born he'll be about 7 lbs 4 oz. Ah happy momma! I'm still measuring ahead which could be just how he is positioned in me. I'm thinking that he is really long. When I feel him move he is way low and on opposite corners kicking the back of my ribs.
I'm feeling good, can't complain. I'm more tired, sore, and forgetful, but that is normal. I'm very grateful for air conditioning and a relaxing summer, and a helpful husband. The baby's room is painted, car seat is assembled, and boxes of diapers and wipes are present. I'm feeling slightly ready. I know that I still have 9 weeks, and I don't want him out yet, but I'm excited to hang out with this kiddo on the outside! I've been thinking about the hospital bag that eventually will need to be packed. Any suggestions?
P.S. If you want to check out his latest ultrasound go to www.youtube.com/jimmybyu they are posted by date taken. Good luck figuring out what you're seeing :)

Pictures! (27 weeks)
Today I had my glucose test while also having an appointment and ultrasound. The glucose test wasn't bad at all. I even handled the blood draw just fine. We had an ultrasound to make sure that everything was still developing fine. We got to check out his brain and his cutsie little face! And everything so far is good. I am so in love with this kiddo and can't wait to meet him. After the blood draw we met with the doc. I'm still measuring a couple weeks ahead but less than last time. I go back in 3 weeks for another ultrasound to see how big this baby is. Hopefully everything works well so he is right on time. In the meantime, here are some ultrasound pics from his 21 and 27 week appointment.
His cute little profile (21 Weeks)
The man parts that make him a boy! (It took a good 3-5 minutes to get him to open up and show us:))
His little foot and teeny toes!
His legs
His arms. During the ultrasound he gave us a little wave. It was so cute!
This is his face from the 27 week ultrasound. If you look in the top right side you can see his little eyes and nose. He had his mouth open so it's a little darker there. Isn't he a cutie patootie!
We will be posting the 21 and 27 week ultrasound video's onto Jimmy's youtube page as soon as we get it uploaded. You can check it out at youtube.com/jimmybyu

A little big?
Last week we went to the doctors, a normal check up. Heart beat was great, weight and blood pressure was great, and my tummy measured 4 weeks ahead! I knew this kid was growing fast! Doc's not too worried but I'm going in for a glucose test and another ultrasound to check on the size of this kid! My family has big babies (8-10+ pounders!) and I could only imagine this one will be too. Until then I'll enjoy when my body will twitch because he is kicking so hard and when people can see my stomach "move on it's own" and wait excitedly for the next time I get to see my boy!
My friend Andrea and I in Seattle last week. Me at 26 Weeks

Happenings!
A lot has been going on since the last post so I haven't had a chance for details.
We had a Doctor's appointment a while ago and found out we were having a BOY! Our scanner isn't hooked up yet so I havent had a chance to get those up loaded. He was wonderful for the whole ultrasound. Every body part was as it should be and growing and healthy. At the time he was estimated to weigh 13 oz. and be measuring perfectly. Then we got to the gender part of the ultrasound and he had his legs closed so tight that we couldn't see a thing! After 5 minutes of poking and pushing to get him to move around, I finally turned to my side and we poked some more before he spread his legs! I get the feeling he's already stubborn like his parents. :) We love him so much and are so excited for him to come home with us!
I'm now 23 weeks! I can't believe there are only 17 weeks left! I feel like I have to get moving to get ready for this kiddo, but I have all summer before working again in the fall. He's been moving around a ton! Sometimes I feel like he's doing flips inside me. I feel them inside constantly, but then when I put my hand on my tummy he'll stop. But when Jimmy feels he'll keep moving just for Daddy!
We ordered our crib a couple of weeks ago and it came! We picked it up to day and set it up. I am amazed at how beautiful and sturdy it is. I can't wait to paint the room soon and get all of the fabrics going so the room is all ready for him.
I hope to get my car seat and jogging stroller travel system soon, but it's out of stock online and not sold in stores! Has anyone else run into this problem. I'm pretty stuck on getting this one and I keep looking to see when it will be available but I'm not getting lucky with this situation. Any suggestions on what to do?
Thanks for listening to me ramble! We love you all!

Prego Pics
Ok people! Here are the first set of prego pics. I didn't take any for the longest time because I didn't feel like I even looked pregnant but I guess it's time. The first one is when I was 17 weeks. We were hiking and had the camera with us so we took one. The second was last night after dinner at 20 weeks. Enjoy!

19 weeks and counting!
I normally wouldn't be posting until our doctor's appointment, but I've been thinking a lot. As this little one grows inside me, and I'm feeling it's shape inside me, I'm getting so excited! I've been thinking a lot about what it will be, how we'll decorate, how we'll raise it, and most importantly how to love it the most. I can't wait to see it's tiny body parts and features when we see the ultrasound. I've been a little frustrated lately because I haven't been feeling movement yet, and it seems like everyone else does...until I realize that this precious baby in me is only about 8 oz inside a melon size ball of fluid... and is only awake about 4 hours of my day. I convinced myself that it's moving in the night when I couldn't feel it when I was sleeping anyway.
I have 9 1/2 million pillows that I arrange around me constantly at night but I still wake up with painful hip aches and neck aches. Do you have any other suggestions for sleeping arrangements?
I have to finish by saying how in awe I am of women that have done this once and many times over. What a beautiful time in life. I'm almost selfish with my time now, knowing that the baby and me are always together, knowing that it won't always be this way. Even when Jimmy talks to my belly I'd rather just have peaceful moments with my hands on my tummy. This whole process is an amazing experience. I've taken one prego picture but since I haven't gained anything, I don't look prego to me yet, but I'll be posting them soon :)

Doc Appt #4!
I skipped one I know, but they were both pretty similar. Our 3rd doctor's appointment was a month ago. It was different because it was more routine without an ultrasound. We had a med student walk in before our Doc. He attempted to act like he knew what he was doing but it was only his second day there. He asked if I had morning sickness, to which I responded "here and there during the day and mostly at night," to which he responded "That's odd, that normally happens in the morning time" (oh does he have a lot to learn!) He asked some odd questions which brought up our miscarriage 2 years ago. And he asked when the miscarriage was (we were 12 weeks last time) while he attempted and failed to find the heartbeat. Awkward. I felt kinda bad for the guy. Finally our doctor came in asked how we were found the heartbeat right away and answered the questions the med student couldn't. With more practice, I'm sure he'll get better.
Today we had our 4th appointment. I'm currently 17 weeks and happy :) This appointment was pretty routine as well a measurement, found the heartbeat (a healthy 150) and answered our questions about painting our house and allergy medications. I really love and appreciate how well researched and detailed our doctor is. It's comforting to know the prenatal care we are getting is great!
This week I was asked if I could feel the baby and then it was described to me what it felt like. It's amazing that a little 5 ounce, 5 inch long baby inside a balloon of water can be felt. But I have felt the teeny flutter of the baby a couple of times.
Our next appointment is on May 3rd, and we should be able to tell the gender then. Any guesses????

Week 11...or 12...
So I'm on week 11 or 12. I'm not quite sure how to count the weeks. Do you way week 12 or 11 if you are 11 weeks 1 days...like are you in the 12th week so you say week 12 or do you say that you are still 11 weeks. I'm not sure so I've been going by the daily email I get from whattoexpect.com
I am getting out of the sickness phase which I am super excited for! I keep forgetting that I still can't eat that much at one time so leftovers are quite common for me. As I've been reading up on how our little one is growing inside of me I get more and more excited. I cannot believe the miracle of a little life growing so complexly inside of me. I have a doctor's appointment on Thursday. We've been spoiled with an ultrasound each time we have gone in and I'm hoping that will continue but planning on it not. I just want to hear and see our little one again and see how big he/she has grown!

Ah to be sick...
Sick Mama= Healthy Baby right? Then we must have a healthy baby! I have been trying to monitor what I'm eating and drinking to handle my upset stomach. I have only thrown up a couple of times which I am grateful for, and when I'm at school I've been ok. My students are wonderful and know when I'm sick and they need to behave better :) I can't complain though, I really don't have it all that bad. I just wish that this cold would go away too. If any of you have any suggestions for remedies that worked for you that would be great. I've tried the mints, the crackers, the mini meals, and ginger ale, but it usually only lasts for a while before it doesn't anymore. I have liked toast with cream cheese, and when I have time on the weekends french toast! I hope that the fluency of this entry makes a little sense. 9 weeks down and 31 to go!

Appt #2!
I feel so lucky that we have an amazing experienced doctor! We had a chance to go into our second appointment today to hear the heart beat and see new pics of the baby. I was so excited and a little nervous. (I just wanted to hear it) I was hoping that it was there, since I had a little morning sickness I figured everything was O.K. And, it was! I saw the baby right a way and the cute little fluttering heart! Dr. Y said that it was a great strong heartbeat at 144 bpm (beats per min)! I couldn't believe how much bigger the baby grew. I realize that before the baby was the size of a orange seed, but I was so proud that it grew the size of a blueberry!!! Anyway, it was a fun adventure. I also had my blood drawn (in 6 vials!) and for my fear of needles and blood draw I did pretty good! And I of course had to get the H1N1 vaccine (your welcome Charles). The Doc made the official due date September 19th and we got a huge goody bag and a schedule for next month. I now feel a little more calm and excited for everything to come!
Here's the little one and the graphic of the heartbeat...
And here is the little one!

"morning sickness"
So at the first doc appointment the doc called that I would start feeling sick on the following Saturday. And he was right! It was the first time I'd really experienced it. With the first pregnancy I didn't have any at all. And I told myself after we lost the baby that I would never complain about being pregnant again. So, I'm not complaining. Each time I have heartburn or gag I think, "it just means it's a healthy baby, everything is good" (so I have complained a little) but I am grateful to be sick because I know that this time around it is different and that we are on the right track. I'm trying to figure out all the different foods I can and cannot eat, and the proper timing of when and how much to eat. I did have some success with it this afternoon, and I'm sure with some of your advice I'll be a master! Happy Nausea!

1st Doc Appointment
We had our first doctor's appointment today. Because of our history with baby making we got into the doctor's at 6 weeks. I was so anxious and nervous because I just wanted everything to be ok. Turns out that everything is ok, we were just a little early. Dr. Y said that everything looked good we were just too early for a heart beat so we scheduled another appointment in 2 weeks to see the heartbeat and do some blood work. I am happy to say that I have only been tired and have not really had any other symptoms. After telling my doctor that he kinda chuckled and bet that I would start feeling sick this weekend. Ha ha.. I'm ok with whatever is thrown at me. I just want a healthy happy baby, and I'll be good. Here are our first pictures of the baby! Its the same image twice (no twins as far as we know) a 5 1/2 week embryonic sac and if you look close on the left there is a teeny shadow of the baby, the size of a pea!
